About the position:

Applications are invited for a 3–4-year research position in the research group of Karel Říha, PhD, to join the TowArds Next GENeration Crops (TANGENC) project, reg. number CZ.02.01.01/00/22_008/0004581, in Programme Johannes Amos Comenius (Czech Republic - The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, co-funded by the European Union).

Karel Říha PhD leads the Laboratory of Plant Molecular Biology and his research group () is delving into cutting-edge research in plant biology.

We offer two interesting topics to explore:

  1. Centromeres in plant adaptation to heat stress
  2. RNA and protein condensate in plant reproduction and stress response.

Our Main objectives are Deciphering mechanisms of chromosome end protection, Understanding regulatory pathways that define the meiotic mode of chromosome segregation and application of this knowledge in plant breeding, and Investigating non-canonical functions of the proteins involved in nonsense-mediated RNA decay.

The researcher will be mainly involved in research activities within project TANDENC work package No. 3 reproduction (REPRODUCTIVE FITNESS UNDER ABIOTIC STRESS).

Requirements:

Must be in active PhD studies no later than the date of starting the position Strong expertise in at least one of the following specializations: A scientific background with an emphasis on molecular biology, genomics or proteomics is required. Good oral and written communication skills in English Practical lab experience Independence, accountability, and reliability Good communication and organizational skills We offer:

Job type: part-time (0,5 FTE)
Duration: initial full-time fixed-term contract for one year, with the possibility of extension up to five years
